| The Friends of Connetquot
is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the
preservation, conservation and continuation for
future generations of the Connetquot River State
Park Preserve. In order to maintain the
environmental, ecological, cultural and historical
integrity of the 3,473 acre preserve, the groups’
initiatives are: |
 |
• |
To help preserve the pristine
environment |
| |
• |
To lend support to the management |
| |
• |
To help support the fishing
habitat, woodlands, flora and fauna, hiking and
bridle trail facilities and the educational programs |
| |
• |
To help protect and restore
historic buildings |
| The Friends of
Connetquot believe that the act of preservation is
best accomplished when we keep an eye on the past, a
foothold in the present, and our arms outstretched
for the future. |

Friends of Connetquot's 2008 Gala |
 |
Our
11th Annual Gala will be held at Connetquot State
Park Preserve on Sunday, October 5, 2008 from 1:00
p.m. to 4:00 p.m. This year’s event will feature
exhibits and information on trout fishing and the
importance of protecting the waters of the Connetquot River from pollution.

The Gala is the main fund raiser for our projects in
the Park. Our Grist Mill restoration is still
underway and as expected, we are finding that the
cost exceeds the funds we have raised up to now.
Additionally, we are in the planning stages to
restore the Ice House and convert it into a library
and research center.

You can help us reach our goals by a contribution,
the donation of any prize for the raffle and
auctions held at our Gala event or by advertising in
the Gala brochure that will be distributed to those
attending.

Please join in helping the Park and come to the
festivities—live music, equestrian and other
displays, fabulous food and refreshments in a
beautiful setting.

The Friends think of the Park as a wonderful
treasure and we want to share it with you.

Advertising Opportunity...
Additionally, we will be publishing a Gala brochure
that we think is a great medium for promoting your
business or organization. The proceeds from your
advertisement will help us with our projects, which
serve our community. If you're interested in
advertising in the Gala brochure,
click
here to download and print this form,
containing an introductory letter, information,
contract and advertising rates. The deadline
for submission is August 15, 2008, so don't delay if
you wish to advertise. |

| Friends of Connetquot's
11th Annual Fun Trail Ride |
 |
Despite
the unfortunate postponement of the ride on May 4th
[I’ll never listen to the weathermen again] most
everyone showed up the next week on May 11th,
including many more who did not pre-register. The
weather was perfect for a day in the country,
riders, drivers, and hikers all enjoyed the day
tremendously. I don’t know the exact amount
collected today but with over 100 players and many
taking advantage of a yard of raffle tickets for
$20, I’m sure we did well. Many repeat riders, who
come for the food and fun, were joined by new
friends of Connetquot...Click

| Help
the Friends of Connetquot Raise Funds to Restore the
Grist Mill |
 |
|
|
The
Friends of Connetquot is presently working with the
State of New York to restore the grist mill,
which
is a landmark of the Preserve and a registered
National Historic structure. It is the only
surviving "tub wheel"
mill on the east coast. With your support we can
make this structure a working mill and preserve it
for generations to
come. Plans have been prepared and work has started
but we need money to complete the mill restoration
and to
continue funding improvements to maintain and
enhance the Park.

more about our effort and how you can help. |
